How we make money

The full disclosure. Every product page links here.

methodology

FilterSpecs earns nothing today. No affiliate programme is approved, no link on this site is monetised, and no merchant pays us anything when you buy. The intention is to earn affiliate commissions, and this page will name every rate when one exists.

What we earn on

Nothing, at present. We hold no affiliate relationship with any merchant, so every buy link on this site sends you to the merchant's own product page with no tracking parameter attached and earns us nothing.

The links still run through our redirect so that we can count clicks. What that records is on the privacy page, field by field.

What that does not influence

Scores are produced from the scoring model before any commercial data is attached to a product. The four components, certified coverage, claim integrity, cost of ownership and practical fit, contain no revenue term. A product's score is identical whether we earn nothing on it or earn the highest rate we have.

  • We do not accept payment for inclusion, for a higher score, or for placement in a ranked list.
  • We do not accept free products from manufacturers. We do not test products at all; we verify certifications against certifier databases.
  • We do not allow manufacturers to review a page before it is published.
  • Merchant order within a buy block is by price, lowest first, not by commission rate.

Where the conflict actually sits

The honest risk is not that we would inflate a score. It is that we have more reason to publish pages about products that are sold with a commission than about products that are not. We publish the uncertified and the unavailable anyway, and the claimed-but-not-certified block on every product page exists for that reason, but a reader is entitled to know where the pressure points.

Commission rates by merchant

There are none to publish. As of 21 Sep 2026 we hold no approved affiliate programme, so there is no rate, no merchant and no category to disclose. When that changes, the full table appears here before any link is monetised.

The disclosure we use

This sentence appears next to every buy control on the site, at body text size rather than as fine print:

We may earn a commission. Prices are the same.

It says may because it is written for the site we intend to run rather than the one we run today, and because a disclosure that appears only once money starts moving teaches a reader to distrust it. Today the accurate version is that we earn nothing at all.
